ASSAM
The Soul of Incredible IndiaAssam spans the fertile plains of the mighty Brahmaputra valley, a melting pot of cultures, languages and religions. With lush forest covers, innumerable animals and birds, ancient archaeological sites, a visit to Assam offers visitors a wide range of experiences.
Avion Holidays in conjunction with their Indian agents who are based in Guwahati, the capital of Assam, have been organizing many interesting tours around Assam and other parts of North East India.
We also operate two of the most renowned forest retreats in Assam, Dlphlu River Lodge in Kaziranga National Park and The Bansbari Lodge in Manas National Park. Both these National Parks are World Heritage Sites and are popular both among domestic and international travellers.
Diphlu River Lodge: Started in January 2008, Diphlu River Lodge provides much needed top class accommodation at Kaziranga National Park, a World Heritage Site. The position of the lodge is second to none; only the boundary river separates its extensive grounds from the National Park itself, and the jungle views are exceptional.
The Lodge has 8 individual cottages and 4 semi-detached cottages, raised on stilts above the ground. Made of bamboo and thatch, they are all air-conditioned. All cottages sleep 2 and have been beautifully designed to make full use of local materials and artifacts and blend in with the stunning natural surroundings. All are well appointed and charmingly furnished with individual interiors.
Our expert naturalists accompany all our guests on their excursions into the Kaziranga National Park and help in spotting and identifying all animals and birds for them – enriching the experience of all the guests.
The Bansbarl Lodge: Situated in prime position right at the entrance to the National Park, with tea gardens on one side, jungle and views of the Himalayan foothills on the other. The16 large twin bedded rooms all have attached bathrooms and the Lodge is simply but comfortably furnished.
There is a welcoming atmosphere to the Lodge, which includes an attractive dining room and a lobby where you can relax and browse through books from the library. Tables and chairs are set outside for breakfast and the spacious grounds are ideal for long strolls.
The in-house naturalists accompany all guests on their safaris inside the forest and assist them in identifying and spotting birds and animals.
